Allison Transmission’s Student Program provides students with the opportunity to engage in real-world work experiences, hands-on learning opportunities, and professional and educational growth.
We have two types of opportunities for students in the U.S.:
This program requires students to be enrolled full-time at an accredited university and in the Allison internship program. Each student is required to work full-time between school terms for 10 to 12 weeks.
This program requires students to be in a sanctioned university curriculum at an accredited university that coincides with the Allison Co-op program curriculum. Students must be able to rotate between school and the Allison Co-op program. Prior to program completion, two work assigned rotations must be fulfilled.
Allison’s Student Program provides the opportunity for students to learn and engage in a range of experiences, including work assignments, projects, presentations, evaluation, community service, customer experiences and group activities. Students work with mentors, supervisors and other staff members to ensure that their experience at Allison is well rounded and challenging.
The Student Program offers educational opportunities in the business and technical organizations at Allison. Each department offers a variety of opportunities and experiences in different positions.
Group activities are one of the most important parts of the Student Program. These activities, whether out in the community or on the shop floor, will provide students with:
- Exposure to our company, our leadership and our corporate values
- Familiarization with our products
- Experience with customers
- Opportunities to experience the culture and attractions in Indianapolis
- Engagement with Allison employees and other students
