Allison Transmission Introduces Allison DOC^(TM) For PDA (1000/2000 Series^(TM) ) Diagnostic Tool

January 29, 2003 - Indianapolis, Indiana - Allison Transmission has introduced Allison DOC^TMFor PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) (1000/2000 Series^TM), a full feature "Palm^TM" PDA^TMbased diagnostic software application, supporting control systems for the Allison 1000/2000/2400 Series^TMtransmissions. The Allison DOC^TM For PDA (1000/2000 Series^TM) diagnostic tool enables a technician to use a hand-held PDA to conveniently access diagnostic data from the transmission control system and conduct systematic troubleshooting of transmission problems with full diagnostic capability. The system can be used with or without Allison's PC-based diagnostic tool (ATDT Version 1.1 or the product's later generation Allison DOC^TM For PC Version 2.0 or later). The Allison DOC^TMFor PDA (1000/2000 Series^TM) diagnostic tool gives operators a convenient way to gather data from the electronic controls of Allison's 1000/2000 Series^TMtransmissions. The tool gathers data via a Snapshot function. Following collection, these Snapshot files can be transferred (via Palm ^TM HotSync^TM) to the user's PC where they can be easily emailed. When used with Allison DOC^TMFor PC, Allison DOC^TMFor PDA (1000/2000 Series^TM) lets users launch, view, or manipulate files utilizing all the features of Allison DOC^TMFor PC. Future PDA-based diagnostic software will include additional Allison DOC^TMFor PDA tools for CEC2 (Off-Highway) and Allison Electric Drive (AED) transmissions.

User selectable views of multiple transmission parameters

Interpretation of J1939 and J1850 protocols

View Active and Historic Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Display Failure Records

User configurable Snapshot function (can store up to 5 Snapshot files of up to 15 minutes each*) Expansion cards can be used to store log files

The ability to navigate through all screens without being connected to a vehicle

User configurable Custom Diagnostic Data list

Integrated support for the Allison Transmission Diagnostic Tool (ATDT) Version 1.1 or Allison DOC^TM For PC Version 2.0 and later

Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® for Palm^TM OS v2.0 program can be installed from the Allison DOC^TM For PDA (1000/2000 Series^TM) installation CD

A searchable Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® PDF (Portable Document Format) copy of the diagnostic codes and troubleshooting steps is included on the Allison DOC^TM For PDA (1000/2000 Series^TM) installation CD

*Depending on the available memory on the user's PDA Allison DOC^TM For PDA (1000/2000 Series^TM) is designed to operate on PDAs with the following configurations:

Palm^TM IIIc, V, m125, m130, m500, m505, or m515 series

Palm Operating System (OS) 3.5 or greater

8 MB RAM

Available Serial Port

The Allison DOC^TM For PDA (1000/2000 Series^TM) application occupies about 135KB of Palm^TM memory (without Snapshots)

Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® for Palm^TM OS** Version 2.0 is provided on the application CD

The PC then utilizes the native Palm^TM Install Tool (Hotsync^TM) to install the application into the user's Palm^TM. This tool is also required to interchange Snapshot files acquired by Allison DOC^TM For PDA (1000/2000 Series^TM) with the user's PC.
