Allison Transmission Introduces Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) Diagnostic Tool
 
Indianapolis, IN - Allison Transmission has introduced Allison DOCTM For PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) (WTEC), a full feature PalmTM PDA-based diagnostic software application, supporting control systems for the Allison MD 3000, HD 4000, B300, B400, B500, 3000 MH, 4000 MH, T 200, T 300, and T 400 utilizing World Transmission Electronic Controls (WTEC II and WTEC III). The Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) diagnostic tool enables a technician to use a hand-held PDA to conveniently access diagnostic data from the transmission control system and conduct systematic troubleshooting of transmission problems with full diagnostic capability. The system can be used with or without Allison's PC-based diagnostic tool (ATDT Version 1.1 or the product's later generation Allison DOCTM For PC Version 2.0 or later). The Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) diagnostic tool gives operators a convenient way to gather data from the electronic controls of Allison's World Transmissions. The tool gathers data via a Snapshot function. Following collection, these Snapshot files can be transferred (via PalmTM HotSyncTM) to the user's PC where they can be easily emailed. When used with Allison DOCTM For PC, Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) lets users launch, view, or manipulate files utilizing all the features of Allison DOCTM For PC. Future PDA-based diagnostic software will include additional Allison DOCTM For PDA tools for the 1000/2000/2400 SeriesTM and CEC2 (Off-Highway) transmissions. Specific functions, user's PC/PDA requirements, translator device support, and ordering information are addressed below. Specific features of Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) include:

  • User selectable views of multiple transmission parameters

  • View Active and Inactive Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

  • Clear Inactive Diagnostic Trouble Codes

  • User configurable Snapshot function (can store up to 5 Snapshot files of up to 30 minutes each*)

  • The ability to navigate through all screens without being connected to a vehicle

  • User configurable Custom Diagnostic Data list

  • Integrated support for the Allison Transmission Diagnostic Tool (ATDT) Version 1.1 or Allison DOCTM For PC Version 2.0 and later

  • A searchable Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® PDF (Portable Document Format) copy of the diagnostic codes and troubleshooting steps is included on the Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) installation CD

*Depending on the available memory on the user's PDA Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) is designed to operate on PDAs with the following configurations:

  • PalmTM IIIc, V, m125, m130, m500, m505, or m515 series

  • Palm Operating System (OS) 3.5 or greater

  • 1.5 MB free PalmTM memory (including the Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) application and Snapshot storage)

  • Adobe? Acrobat? Reader? for PalmTM OS

  • 600 KB free PalmTM memory for the Allison troubleshooting procedures (provided on the Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) for WT installation CD)

Note: The Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) software is initially installed on the user's PC. The PC then utilizes the native PalmTM Install Tool (HotsyncTM) to install the application into the user's PalmTM. This tool is also required to interchange Snapshot files acquired by Allison DOCTM For PDA (WTEC) with the user's PC.
