서울, 2024년 4월 17일 – 미국 뉴올리언스 교통국이 앨리슨 트랜스미션의 전기 하이브리드 추진시스템 eGen Flex®이 장착된 뉴 플라이어(New Flyer) 버스 제조회사의 전기 하이브리드 버스의 운행을 승인했다.
로나 에드워즈 행킨스(Lona Edwards Hankins) 뉴올리언스 교통국장은 "앨리슨의 전기 하이브리드 추진시스템 도입을 통해 지역 주민과 여행객들에게 더욱 안전하고 신뢰할 수 있는 대중교통 서비스를 제공할 수 있게 됐다"라며, "자연재해나 비상사태가 발생하더라도 eGen Flex의 충전식 에너지 저장기능 덕분에 시내버스가 충전소에 들르지 않아도 계속 운행할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다"라고 말했다.
eGen Flex®이 장착된 버스는 평소 노선의 최대 50%를 엔진이 꺼진 상태로도 주행할 수 있다. 또, 버스는 eGen Flex의 지오펜싱(Geofencing) 기술을 통해 승객이 승하차하거나 혼잡지역에서 배기가스와 소음을 제거할 수 있다. 여기에 더해 에어컨이나 난방의 효율성도 높일 수 있다.
