Search Publications By Keyword

Enter any number of keywords, click search to receive a listing of matching publications. For items available for online download, the publication text will also be searched. Results will be ranked by relevance. You can create more precise matches by following the following rules

Simple Query - To perform a simple query simply do the following.

  • MATCH PHRASE - To perform a search where each word you enter MUST BE in the document IN ORDER, simply enter each word seperated by a space. For example, a search for World Transmission would only return pages where the exact phrase World Transmission exists, but not pages with just World or just Transmission.
  • MATCH ANY - To perform a search where one or more words return a page, seperate each word with a comma. For example, a search for World, Transmission would return any page with the word World or the word Transmission in it.
Advanced Query - To perform a more complex query, you may use the following operators.
  • AND - Words joined by the operator AND must both exist in a document for it to be returned. For example, a search for transit AND bus, would return pages with both the word transit and the word bus, but not with only one of the words.
  • OR - When you combine search words with the OR operator, either word must exist in a document for it to be returned. For example, a search for transit OR school, would return pages with either the word transit or the word school.
  • NOT - The NOT operator removes a search word. For example, a search for bus NOT transit would return pages with the word bus only if they did not contain the word transit.
You can combine operators to get very precise results. For example, to learn about all vocational applications of the Allison HT 700 Series except refuse, you could search for

HT Series AND vocation NOT refuse.

Assumptions - The search engine will make the following assumptions while searching:
  • STEM - The search engine will look at the meaning of a word and try to search for all variants. For example, if you search for bus, the search engine will located instances of bus, busing and buses.
  • MANY - The search engine takes into account how many times a word is found in the document, and lists these more relevant documents higher.
  • PHRASE - The search engine considers words seperated by a space to be a phrase, and will be searched for as an exact phrase. For example a search for description class would not return a page with the words class description.
