Comments From Our Vice President of Purchasing

Mark A. Anspach

In many respects I am pleased with the way 2010 played out for Allison and our suppliers. I think it is safe to say that many of us saw a return to a stable and growing business environment. Our new products, which represent significant additions to the Allison product offerings, are progressing on-schedule. Our new factory in Chennai, India, started producing commercial products right on schedule and is currently being expanded to accommodate new manufacturing capabilities. And, in addition to expanding Chennai, we have a new factory under construction in Hungary. In addition to these expansions, our Supplier Quality team increased staff presence in India, Hungary, Canada and Mexico in order to be closer to our suppliers in those areas. The same team completed more than 900 supplier visits and over 2,000 PPAPs in 2010. Clearly a busy year!

While 2010 was a busy and successful year, I think that 2011 will prove to offer even more dynamic. Our success this year, our ability to quickly bring our new products to market, and our ability to satisfy customer needs will depend heavily on the relationships and collaboration that we have with our suppliers. My team understands this and will be working hard this year to continue building solid relationships and capabilities that will support the improving economic conditions in our industry. We'll look forward to working with you in 2011.
