New Volvo VHD series for the USA market receives Allison automatic transmissions

Volvo VHD heavy-duty trucks, recently introduced to the American consumers, have the option of incorporating Allison fully automatic transmissions.

SÃO PAULO, Brazil, June 2020 - The new Volvo VHD vocational series for extremely heavy-duty work recently landed in the USA. Among its main updates are a more modern and efficient design and solutions to increase its durability and productivity, such as the five-or-six-speed Allison fully automatic transmissions.

The new line of Volvo heavy trucks is available in four versions (VHD 300 AB, VHD 300 AF, VHD 400 AB and VHD 400 AF), two cabin alternatives (single or bed), two engines (D11 and D13 with powers varying from 325 to 500hp), automated I-Shift transmissions (12, 13 or 14 speeds) or Allison fully automatic transmissions (five or six speeds) and five wheel-drive options, 4x2, 6x2, 6x4, 8x4, 8x6.

The wide range of powertrains available for the new VHD vocational line is intended for concrete mixers, derricks and cranes, construction trucks, mining, quarries, refuse collection and roll-off. Allison automatic transmissions can equip them all.

According to the manufacturer, the Volvo VHD line was designed partially for drivers. Everything implied a more versatile and reliable trucks while increasing the vehicle's life, productivity, as well as driver safety and comfort. Drivers will appreciate this truck because it facilitates heavy lifting, particularly due to the automatic transmissions. With the Allison on the VHD models, they will have greater control of the vehicle when traveling at low speeds in adverse terrain and easy starting on steep grades.
