앨리슨 트랜스미션, 美 육군 장갑차에 전자동 변속기 공급
대한민국, 서울, 2020년 3월 11일 – 미 육군이 전자동 변속기가 장착된 300대 이상의 장갑차를 2021년까지 실전 배치한다.
美 육군 예하의 전차·차량·무장사령부는 앨리슨 트랜스미션의 궤도 차량용 최신 전자동 변속기인 X200-4A 모델을 사용한 M113 장갑차 300대 이상을 2021년까지 작전 현장에 투입한다.
X200-4A 모델은 군용 차량이 다양한 전장 상황에서도 탁월한 추진력을 낼 수 있도록 지원하는 고성능 전자동 변속기이다. 차동(差動) 기어, 유압식 브레이크 등이 유압식 토크 컨버터와 결합된 것이 특징이다.
현재, 미 육군은 5,000대 이상의 M113 장갑차를 보유하고 있다. 이는 장갑차 단일 모델로는 가장 많은 수이다. 주로 기갑여단이 M113 장갑차를 지휘 통제, 전투 사격, 공병, 의료 등의 목적으로 운용하고 있다.

한편, 앨리슨 트랜스미션은 지난 1946년부터 미 국방부와의 협업을 통해 미국 군대가 험지와 악조건 속에서도 임무를 완수할 수 있도록 지원하고 있다.
