Allison Transmission to Unveil New 9-Speed Transmission and Update to its eGen Power® Family of Fully Electric Axles at Busworld Europe

BRUSSELS, October 2023 – Allison Transmission will showcase its latest innovations at the highly anticipated Busworld Europe trade show taking place October 7-12 in Brussels. Allison will announce two major milestones in its product line-up: the new 9-Speed transmission and a significant update to the Allison eGen Power® family of fully electric axles in its booth (Hall 6, Booth 618).

Allison’s new 9-Speed transmission has been developed based upon Allison’s proven 2000 Series™ automatic transmission with 6 speeds, which has travelled approximately 200 million kilometers globally. The Allison 9-Speed was designed to meet the demands of commercial vehicles like an 8-meter midibus with more uptime, improved fuel economy, increased performance and reduced maintenance costs in tough start-stop duty cycles.

With nine forward and three overdrive gears, the Allison 9-Speed stands out through its reduced fuel consumption. While the new 1st and 3rd gears empower more efficient performance at frequent start-stop duty cycles, the new 9th gear provides greater fuel economy while maintaining performance. The automatic skip shifts and the nine gears to choose from enhance the performance of the vehicle.

Allison will also announce an update to its eGen Power family of fully electric axles, which was first introduced in 2020. The e-Axles are designed to fit between the wheels of medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses, replacing the vehicle’s traditional powertrain with electric power. eGen Power is a bolt-in solution compatible and easily customizable to current vehicle frames, suspension and wheel ends, and is well suited to most OEM vehicle assembly processes.

Allison’s wide variety of propulsion solutions will be on display at the Allison booth and will also be showcased in OEM vehicles, including newly launched Allison-equipped vehicles making their debut at Busworld.
