180대 트럭 운영 콜린스 트랜스포트, 현대 마이티 오토매틱 운영
대한민국, 서울, 2022년 8월 05일 — 앨리슨 트랜스미션은 호주 남부지역 57년 역사의 운송회사인 콜린스 트랜스포트(Collins Transport)가 올해 초 현대 마이티 오토매틱 차량 1대를 구매하고 45,000km 이상을 무사고▪무고장으로 운행했다고 밝혔다.
1965년 호주 윙필드 애들레이드에 설립된 콜린스 트랜스포트는 180대 이상의 트럭을 운영하고 있다. 올해 초 애들레이드 소재의 여러 마트에 농수산물을 배송하기 위해 현대 마이티 오토매틱 차량을 구매했다. 현대 마이티 오토매틱에는 앨리슨의 1000시리즈TM 전자동변속기가 장착돼 있다.
콜린스 트랜스포트의 칼 해밀턴(Carl Hamilton) 차량 정비 및 교육 총괄은 "요즘은 수동 트럭을 운전할 수 있는 직원을 채용하는 것이 어렵기 때문에 전자동변속기 장착 차량을 구매하는 것이 추세이다"고 말했다.
그는 이어 "직원들이 마트와 물류창고를 오고 가며 하루 12시간 이상 현대 마이티 오토매틱을 운행했다"며 "직원들은 전자동변속기가 장착된 오토 차량이 기어 변속이 필요 없어 수동 차량에 비해 훨씬 운전이 편하고 안전하다며, 덜 피곤하다고 공통적으로 이야기했다"고 말했다.
콜린스 트랜스포트는 그 동안 주로 16개 팔레트를 상하차 할 수 있는 트럭을 운영했다. 반면, 현대 마이티는 4개의 팔레트를 실을 수 있는 준중형 트럭이다. 콜린스는 향후 중소형 물류 수요가 늘어날 것으로 전망돼 마이티 구매를 확대할 계획이다.
칼 해밀턴 총괄은 “중소형 물류의 수요증대가 기대돼 마이티 오토매틱 차량의 구내를 늘릴 예정"이라며, “직원들은 오토매틱 차량이 승용차를 운행하는 것과 같다고 이야기할 정도로 앨리슨 전자동변속기에 대한 선호가 매우 높다"고 말했다.
