When I first joined my Allison Authorized Distributor, I had a lot of trouble getting up to speed with the work and struggled to have good conversations with customers because I was uncomfortable with face-to-face interaction. However, as a result of Allison's globally standardized training and the experience that I gained through daily hands-on work, I am now able to predict the location of a malfunction and quickly diagnosis it.

I used to be nervous about face-to-face interactions, but gradually customers have come to rely on me, and I now have many customers with whom I have a deep connection. Of course, there are challenging obstacles at times, but the smiles on the faces of the customers that I repair for and their encouragement that I did a good job are an asset to me.

As an Allison Technician, I take pride in my work. Unlike general auto maintenance, this job requires expertise in Allison. Because of it, I am different from other auto repair technicians. I can work on a variety of vehicles and am often asked for advice by various customers. I strongly feel that I am rare and valued.

It is often said that people feel joy when they are needed, and that is exactly where I am. I am very happy to be an Allison Technician and I feel that my world is expanding. I am having the most fun right now!

Like many techs, I started my career as an apprentice Diesel Mechanic. After 16 years of mostly engine work, I chose to try my hand with Allison products fulltime at a local Allison Authorized Distributor. My thirst for knowledge led me to becoming experienced in a wide range of products while working on a world class product. From Technician to Branch Manager to Application Engineer to now Customer Support Manager and Trainer for Allison Transmission, Allison products have become my career – not just a job.

My background as a Tech assists me in my role every day. It provided me the groundwork for problem solving and building customer relations. Allison offers excellent training in a great environment…that is more family like than just work. With the oncoming EV revolution, Techs will be given new challenges to learn and adopt skills that can be used worldwide. Giving you an opportunity that not all jobs offer.

I look back at my career from when I began as a Tech to now. The opportunities that I have been given, the places that I have traveled to and the friendships that I have built are something that I had never dreamed of. All due to the path of choosing to become an Allison Tech.
